Obituary

William Signarovitz passed into Heaven peacefully at the age of 76 on August 4, 2021.  He was born on May 13, 1945 and lived his whole life in Allentown.  He was being served by Lehigh Valley Hospital Network Hospice Care at the time of his death.  He is survived by his sister, Lenore Signarovitz of Allentown, a son, Ryan Signarovitz of Phoenixville, PA, and a daughter, Kelly Signarovitz Chickilly of Northampton, PA.  He loved and celebrated his 4 grandchildren, Austin and Jack Signarovitz and Michael and Mary Chickilly, plus many cherished cousins and other family members.

His first job was an on-air disc jockey on WAEB AM 790 radio station in Allentown.  It was here where he was known to his listeners as Johnny Michaels.  After that, he pursued a successful career in advertising as well as hospitality sales management.  In his later years, he enjoyed his job as a school bus driver for the Parkland School District.  His love for music stayed with him his entire life, as he enjoyed playing piano and writing music.  He enjoyed golf, travelling, and outings with family and friends.  He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church on 11th and Washington Sts in Allentown, and played the organ for the church in his younger years.  He was a good listener and enjoyed sharing advice from his life's experiences with his family.  He had a fantastic sense of humor and was a great storyteller.  His work in radio led him to meet many famous people in the music industry and he had many fascinating experiences that he shared.  On one occasion, he played tennis with Burt Bacharach at Allentown Racquet Club.  He had a courageous battle with cancer for his last 9 years.  He respected and admired the work and dedication of his oncologist Dr. Suresh Nair and his wonderful team.  He was a good man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
