William Giering, 78, of Allentown, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 14th, 2023. He was born June 14th, 1945, in Allentown, PA, to the late Howard J. Giering Sr. and Hellen (Mullen) Giering.

William retired from the U.S. army in 1983 after 21 years of honorable service. During his time serving this nation he was awarded a Meritory Service Medal, a Korean National Defense Medal, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, and was recognized by the U.S. Army for good conduct.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; step children Brenda Bognar (Michael) of Palmerton, June Lightcap of Allentown, and Joseph Lightcap (Susan) of Allentown; brother David; sisters Sandra Martinez (Julio) of Bethlem, Linda Cruz of Allentown, and Pearl Warmbal of Bath, 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, William is predeceased by his siblings Howard Jr., Thomas, Dorothy, Robert, Evelyn, Betty, Barbara, Richard, and Peggy.

William was a dedicated fan of baseball and football, and avidly collected coins and military memorabilia. He was also a proud member of the VFW. Donations may be made in his honor to VA Chapter 7 or Disabled American Veterans.

Services will be held at Weber Funeral Home Ridge Ave. on December 22, 2023, visitation beginning at 11a.m., funeral service at 12 p.m., and burial at Woodlawn Cemetery to follow.
