Walter H. Niedermeyer, 81, of Slatington, formerly of Allentown, passed away May 24, 2024. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Walter and Myra (Smith) Niedermeyer. Walter was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Mary Niedermeyer.

After serving in the Navy, Walter went on to become an Allentown firefighter. He was mayor of Slatington, PA for 20 years, also serving as councilman and was a member of the Lions Club. He loved gardening, officiating weddings, spending time with his family, and was an avid cruiser.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Walter and his wife, Noreen, Niedermeyer, William Niedermeyer, Kimberly, wife of John Wunderler; five grandchildren: Kelsey, Mariah, Tyler, Sydney, and Ian; two great-grandchildren: Elias and Braden; a sister, Helen (Niedermeyer) Yeager, and tons of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in passing by his siblings.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from 6PM to 8PM at Weber Funeral Homes 502 Ridge Avenue Allentown, PA 18102. A second viewing will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 9AM until the service at 10AM. Burial with military honors to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown.
