Virginia S. Hower, 84, of Allentown died Tuesday October 13, 2009 at her residence. She was the wife of Richard J. Hower for the past 21 years having married on September 17, 1988. Born in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Elva (Puderbaugh) Sweeney. Virginia was a lay-out operator for the former Western Electric for 36 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, an avid bowler and golfer. Survivors: Husband, son, Thomas M. Kunkel and wife Elizabeth of Allentown; daughters, Kimberley K. Posch of Allentown and Michele M. wife of Nick LaBasi of Uniontown, OH; step son, Richard M. Hower of Oakford, NJ; sister, Jane wife of Jerry Scott of Ashland, TN; ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and two step-granddaughters. Predeceased by a son Harley E. Kunkel, Jr. and a brother Ralph Sweeney. Services: Mass of Christian Burial Monday October 19, 2009, St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Avenue. Allentown. Call 9:30-10:50 am in the church.
