Stephen J. Schlegel, age 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his home in Center Valley surrounded by his family. He was born July 19, 1941 in Allentown, the son of the late Stephen J. and Arlene A. (Hersh) Schlegel.

Stephen graduated in 1959 from Liberty High School in Bethlehem. He proudly served as an E-3 Airman for four years (1959-1963) in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at various bases across the U.S., as well as at Yokota Air Force base in Japan. After the military, he worked as a Sheet Metal Journeyman until retirement. Stephen was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hellertown. He volunteered for many years with the Upper Saucon Kiwanis Club and was a Fire Policeman with the Upper Saucon Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed working outside in the yard or in the garage, on projects.

He is survived by daughter, Jodi Werbisky of Coopersburg; son, Steven Schlegel of Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Jillian and Lucas Werbisky; brother, Dale Schlegel of CA; sisters, Deanna Benner of Bethlehem, Janette Moyer and Sue Gruver, both of Center Valley.
