Obituary

Mosko, Stephen T, "Steve", 88, of Coopersburg, died on June 15, 2015. Born in Fairfield, AL, November 21, 1926 to the late Stephen and Annie (Kurtts) Mosko, both of Ensley, AL. Loving husband of Gladys J. (Fluck) for 64 years, they married in St. John's Lutheran Church, Coopersburg by the Rev Warren Harding (deceased). From 1944-1952, he was a 2nd class petty officer in the US Navy during WW2 and then served aboard the battleship USS Iowa during the Korean War. He was an active member of the USS Iowa and Korean War Veterans Associations. In 1952, he became the first full-time mail carrier in Coopersburg. He also worked for Bethlehem Steel and PB Railroad in the 1950's. He retired in 1985 from the US Postal Service. Active in the community for many years, he was a member (44 years) with the Coopersburg Saucon Lodge 469, a 32 degree mason with the Lehigh Consistory (Scottish Rite FreeMasonry, NMJ) and the Rajah Temple, Reading. He was a past president of the Coopersburg Lions Club. In earlier years, he was an avid outdoors man. He was instrumental in organizing the Coopersburg community pool, Coopersburg Ambulance Corp and Southern Lehigh Little League baseball. He taught Sunday school and was a councilman at St. James Lutheran Church in Coopersburg. He was an avid reader who especially enjoyed Baldachi and Grisham novels. His passion was playing golf.

Survivors: Wife, Gladys; Sons, Mark and Michael, husband of Kathleen; granddaughter, Natalie all of Coopersburg; sister, Mary Holley, wife of Wayman "Buddy" and brother William Mosko of Atlanta, GA.
