Stephen A. Hirko, 85 of Upper Saucon Twp., passed away October 23 at Valley Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Pecovska Nova-ves, Czechoslovakia to the late Andrew and Julia (Gold) Hirko and was married for 48 years to his wife Elsie (Maitz). Stephen was a Marine Corps combat sergeant in Gwadal Canal in the South Pacific, during WWII, before getting wounded and receiving a Purple Heart. He worked for 42 years at Bethlehem Steel as a brick layer and gahnite sprayer, retiring in June 1980. Survivors: Wife Elsie M. Hirko, Son Stephen and wife Roseanne Hirko Jr. of Bethlehem and Sister Mary Rash. Services: Graveside Service 11 AM Monday October 29 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Allentown.
