Stanley R. Johnson, 88, of Chambersburg, died on Sun. June 26, 2016 in Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1928 in Washington County, Maryland. He was the son of Lee L. Johnson and Clara M. (Shaffer) Johnson. He was the husband of Esther (Grove) Johnson, married in 1955

Stanley was a 1946 Graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Corporal. He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, as a rural mail carrier, in 1986. Stanley and his wife were the developers of Meadow Greene Heights. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the National Letter Carriers Association. Stanley had a love of the mountains, whether hunting, cutting wood, or just being there watching the wildlife.

Survivors: Stanley is survived by his wife, Esther, of 61 years; as well as a son, Steven W. Johnson, and a daughter, Judith M. Hansen; four grandsons, Connor & Cole Johnson and Erik & Cory Hansen; a step-grandson, James Hansen; and a brother Ronald Johnson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Staley.

SERVICES: Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:30AM in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Roger Witter Officiating.
