IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Spencer L.
Cherashore
August 22, 1930 – June 28, 2022
Spencer Lee Cherashore, age 91, of Alburtis Pennsylvania passed away on June 28, 2022, after a brief illness.
Spencer was born on August 22, 1930, to David (Dewey) and Helen (Lee) Cherashore in Philadelphia. After graduating from Germantown Academy, he went on to study at Penn. The confines of university life were not for Spence and he yearned to start earning a paycheck. His grandfather and father both worked in the garment business and Spence followed suit. He worked for many well-known dressmakers before starting his own company Cherberg with his partners Howard Cherashore and Bernie Rutberg, under the label "Jeune League".
Spencer married Nancy Louise Evans, in 1952 and had two sons, David Lee and Eric Evans. The family lived in Ambler, summered on Long Beach Island, and spent the winters skiing Pennsylvania mountains. Nancy passed away in 1974 from breast cancer after a gallant battle.
In addition to his sons, Spence is survived by his grandchildren, Will (Gina), Nancy (Carlos Abi-Ganem), Laine, and Morgen, and great-grandchildren Stella, Domenic, and Gonzalo. Also, his brother Irvin (Toni), his nephew, Matthew (Julia), and nieces, Kaycee and Lindsay, grandniece, Sophia as well as his longtime companion, Merry Murtagh.
Spence and Merry enjoyed a love of sailing, cars, and animals; many a weekend was spent on the sea or attending car shows. At one point, they had horses, sheep, goats, geese, cats, and a dog named Tanner, that called their farmhouse home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Spence's name to Two Top Mountain Adaptive Sports Foundation, Inc . (a non-profit organization devoted to teaching disabled veterans how to ski) 10914 Claylick Road Office, Mercersburg, PA 17236, or a favorite charity.
The burial will be private.
