Sophie Shisslak Burke, 99, passed away Sept. 22 at Brookmont Healthcare in Effort. Born in Allentown she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Syurn) Lizun. Sophie worked as Jaindl Farms in the 1960's and was a homemaker after that. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Survivors: Children, Sophie Thompson, John Shisslak, Darla Paplsy; step sons, Jack and Thomas Burke; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Peterson, Frances Peterson, and Frieda Paules. She was predeceased by husbands, George Shisslak, and John Burke; by children, Edward Shissslak, and Mary Gackenbach; by siblings Paul Lizun, Verna Kernick, and Mary Mirth.
