Samuel E. Menniti
Samuel E. Menniti, 87, of Whitehall, PA walked into eternity to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 9th, 2014. Sam and his loving wife Mary Lou (Andrewlevich) have been married for 58 years. He was born April 29th, 1927 to the late Mose and Rose (Vivino) Menniti. The third of six children, Sam was born in Mt. Carmel, PA. Sam graduated in 1944 from Mt. Carmel High School. He then served in the US Navy with honorable discharge in 1946.(Sam was an Longtime Member[60 yrs] of American Legion Post 367- Fullerton, PA and of the Veterans of Foreign War and Elks Club of Mt. Carmel, Pa). He then attended the Antonelli School of Photography, graduating with a diploma in Photography. He graduated from Arizona State in 1954 with a BS in Accounting. In 1948 while attending Arizona State, the University noted his work in photography was so good the school sponsored him to take a picture of Leo Durocher of the Giants Baseball team and the Toni Twins at Frank Lloyd Wrights School of Architecture. Remember Bill Cullen who asked the audience, Which twin has the Toni? referring to the home permanents of the fifties? Sam may have known. He worked for Equitable Life Insurance, G.A.C., and PP and L before retiring in 1989. He volunteered at St. Lukes Hospital Finance Department for 10 years after retirement. Working at St. Lukes finance department was a perfect match for a man who was analytical and understood audits, inventory and accountability. Every Wednesday and Friday Sam joined his team at Polk St. where Finance was headquartered. Sams Passions in life were gardening, travelling and spending time with his family especially at family reunions. Sams steadfast faith and unconditional love was felt by all who knew him.
Survivors: In addition to Mary Lou are sons Richard Menniti and his wife Jan of Houston, TX, Daniel Menniti and his wife Katherine of North Wales, PA; daughters Maria, wife of Bob Kucharczuk of Allentown, PA, Suzanne, wife of Paul Cressman of Bethlehem, PA, Nancy wife of Major Harvey Howard USMC (Ret.) of Norfolk, VA, Christina, wife of Peter Chapman of Charlottesville, VA, Mary Ann, wife of David Laky of Whitehall, PA, brother, Reverend Daniel J. Menniti of Carlisle, PA, sister, Rosemarie, wife of Robert Pachence of Hazelton, PA, twenty-four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Judith (Andrewlevich), wife of Bruce Massey, brother-in-law Ted Andrewlevich and wife Cynthia, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers William and Frederick Menniti and sister Mary Stecker.
Services: Viewing Monday, July 14 from 6:30-8pm. Viewing Tuesday, July 15, 8:30-9:30am. Both at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1825 W. Turner St., Allentown. Interment at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
