Roy Herbert Hixenbaugh
Roy Herbert Hixenbaugh, passed away on September 25, 2009 at home in Center Valley, PA. Born in Belle Vernon, PA. He was a son of the late Roy and Elizabeth (Gamble) Hixenbaugh. He was the husband of Ramona (Daugherty) Hixenbaugh for 50 years. He graduated from Monongahela High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 - 1957 training at Sandia AFB, NM in atomic weaponry. As a staff sergeant assigned to the First Tactical Missile Squadron at Bitburg AFB in Germany, he worked on nuclear weapon fusing and guidance systems. Graduating from Penn State University, he worked as an engineer at Bell Laboratories for thirty years. He was a radio-controlled model airplane enthusiast and was a founding member of the "Flying Maniacs," and Buc-Le Aerosportsmans Clubs. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors: with his wife, brother, Lee and wife Gail; Children, Roxanne Witt, and fianc Doug Snyder, Rhonda Abel, Rebekah Dougherty and fianc Scott Angstadt, Ryan and wife Vicky, and Randall and wife Betsy; Grandchildren, Daniel Witt and fiance Nicole Koloski, Eric and Jessica Witt, Nevin and Caitlin Fritzinger, Grace, Lillian, and Ryan Dougherty, and James Hixenbaugh; Great Granddaughter, Isabelle Witt.
He was predeceased by a son, Royce.
Services: Memorial, 12:00 Noon, Wed., Sept. 30, 2009 at Norcross-Weber Funeral Home, 101-B N. Main St., Coopersburg, PA. A gathering will be held at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the memorial service. (www.weberfuneralhomes.com)
