Ronald James McGovern Sr., 78, of Allentown, passed away May 5, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Thomas and Regina (Knast) McGovern. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Harpster) McGovern; the two have spent 44 years together.
After graduating high school, Ron went on to serve in the Army for 25 years including active duty, the national guard, and being in the reserves. After, he worked for Heavy Duty Parts for many years, Trans Bridge for 20 years, and Limo Today for years until his retirement this past January.
Outside of work, Ron was a train and tank enthusiast, especially HO railroads. He also loved traveling; he and his wife traveled to Antigua every year for 18 years. People who knew Ron know he could talk to anyone and his good sense of humor could make anyone laugh.
In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Carolynn McGovern, grandchildren: Jonathan, Rowan, and Gavin Kessler, sister, Regina Wieland and husband, Thomas, brother, Paul McGovern, sister-in-law, Jennie Basiago, and close friend, Amjad Hachwa.
He was preceded in passing by a son, Ronald James McGovern Jr., and two siblings, Linda and Thomas.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 10:30AM until the service at 11:30AM all at Weber Funeral Home 502 Ridge Avenue Allentown, PA 18102. Burial with military honors to be held privately at a future date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
