Robert Theodore Jones Jr.
Robert Theodore Ted Jones Jr., 75, of Center Valley, PA was called to be with the Lord from the Sacred Heart Assisted Living Center in Center Valley on August 1, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late Robert T. Sr. and Grace (Westerman) Jones. Ted was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Carol who passed away in 2006. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Limeport. Ted was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA where he was student body president and a member of the Tao Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a vice president and plant manager for Mack Trucks, Inc. in Allentown, Macungie and Winnsboro, SC before retiring in 1993 after a distinguished 37 year career. He served honorably in the Untied States Army. Following retirement, Ted volunteered for many agencies, including The Salvation Army and Gods Storehouse in Columbia SC. A native of the Lehigh Valley, Ted and Carol spent 13 happy years in Columbia before moving back to Center Valley to be closer to family. He was an active member of the Prime Time Club at St. Josephs and a past member of the Residents Club in Columbia. Ted enjoyed time on the golf course with friends and was an avid Philadelphia and South Carolina sports fan.
Survivors: Son, Robert T. Jones III, husband of Cathy (Koplin) of Center Valley. Daughters, Diane Holland, wife of Gregory of Coopersburg, Megan Hummel, wife of Justin of Bloomsburg, and Lauri Jones, wife of Jeffrey Boortz of Richmond Hill, GA. Brother, William Jones and his wife Marcia of Allentown. Sisters, Lucille Hagey of Spring Hill, Fl., and Suellen Hall and her husband Don, in Allentown. Ted adored his grandchildren; Nicole (wife of Jason Leindecker), Emily (fiance of Erik Hultquist), Dylan, Evan, Natalie, Katie, Jackson, Gabriel, Bobby and Nola and his great grandson, Peyton.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, Wednesday August 5, 2009 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, St. Josephs Road, Limeport, PA. Visitation: 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Norcross Weber Funeral Home 101B Main Street, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Josephs Church Choir for the funding of Thanksgiving baskets, or to the Childrens Garden of Columbia, SC care of the funeral home.
