Regis F. Johns, 87, of Allentown, passed away February 25, 2012 at Whitehall Manor. Born in Derry, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Catherine (Conner) Johns. Regis, with his brother Tom, was co-owner of the Shell Gas Station on Penn and Tilghman St. from 1947 to 1951. He was also an installer and subcontractor for Penn Aluminum for 40 years as well as a sheet metal worker for Lucent for 20 years. Regis enlisted in the Navy in 1943 where he served as a gunner's mate 3rd class from 1943 to 1945. Regis was an active volunteer for the ARC of Lehigh Valley and Northampton Counties, where his daughter has attended day school for the past 30 years. He served on the ARC Committee, assisted with the weekly bowling league, and was instrumental in advocating for donations needed to purchase equipment. Regis was one of the founding families of the SPARC Program as well. Survivors: Survived by daughter Tracy, twin brother Jody, four sisters, Helen, Rose, Dolores, Yvonne, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Thomas and sister Mary.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 501 Ridge Ave., Allentown. Viewing will be held Tuesday, February 28, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Weber Funeral Home, 502 Ridge Ave., Allentown.
