Pat, 94, of Allentown passed away on November 13, 2014. He was born in Bethlehem on June 24, 1920 to the late Angelo and Josephine (D'Vanze) Campanella. After high school he married his loving wife of 73 years, Sally (Grather) Campanella. He joined the Army Engineers from 1942 to 1945, and was a staff sergant and foreman for constructing bridges and hospitals in Europe. After the war in Europe, Gen. Douglas MacArthur summoned Campanella's outfit - the 1303rd Army Engineers - to help rebuild bombed-out Japanese cities. After his service he went on to start his own business, Beth-Allen Building & Supply Co., and ran it for 23 years. Later he retired as a city building inspector. He was also a former 16th ward alderman and judge of elections, and past president of the 16th ward democratic club, and was a longtime Mason of New Temple Lodge #720. He is predeceased by his sister Dolly Zappasodi; and brother Dominic Campanella.
Survivors: Wife Sally; daughter Linda Cassaday and husband Allen of Center Valley; grandchildren Jodi MacKenzie and husband Ken, and Jason Cassaday and wife Amity, all of Coopersburg; great grandchildren Patrick, Kate, Amelia, Adelaide, and Maeve; sisters Lillian Hunsberger and Rose Pulcini; and many other loving family and friends.
