Michael William Cocco passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the age of 97.  Mickey, as most close to him addressed, was born in Allentown where he was a long-time resident, later residing in assisted living at Whitehall Manor under care with Family Pillars Hospice.

Mickey graduated in the Class of 1943 from Allentown Central Catholic H.S. He immediately registered with the U.S. Navy, entering the WWII arena, post graduation. After completing basic training at Sampson Naval Training Center on Lake Seneca in NY, he was assigned to the position of Radio Airman3 with a Torpedo Squadron.  After discharging from his military service in 1946, Mickey played football for a Navy team and then later at Richmond University. He then returned to Allentown, where he continued his career with technical education with the UGI Corporation, and then retired from the firm after more than 35 years.

Mickey was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Frances (Luksa). He was the last surviving child of Donato Cocca and Rose (Masone), both of Italy. Mickey leaves behind four children, daughter Michele of Harrisburg, PA, son Michael (wife Colette) of Allentown, daughter Claudia Pinero (husband Osvaldo) of Whitehall, and son Daniel of Emmaus; five grandchildren, Vickie, Rebecca, Gabrielle, Samantha and Nathaniel and four great grandchildren, Isabella, Carter, Catalina and Cora.

Interment will be held by the family Friday, July 14, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Whitehall, PA.  Donations in Mickey's memory can be made to the Allentown Police Athletic League, at allentownpal.com or 425 W.
