Michael Holenda, Jr., 90, of Allentown, died Wednesday May 3 in the Liberty Nursing Center. He was the husband of Anna M. "Zine" (Charley) Holenda for the past 58 years. Born in Allentown he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Verholy) Holenda. Michael was a sheet metal worker employed by Local 19 for 27 years before retiring in 1977. He previously was employed by Mack Trucks. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and served in US Army WW II with the 29th Infantry at Normandy and Omaha Beach and was a Purple Heart recipient. He played basketball for England's Albert Hall which was attended by the King and Queen. Survivors: Wife; son, Michael J. III and wife Diane of Catawissa; daughter, Bonnie A. wife of David Maruschak of Whitehall; grandson Michael J. IV. He was predeceased by a brother Daniel and a sister Catherine Czor. Services: Monday 10:45 AM , Weber Funeral Homes, 502 Ridge Avenue followed by a mass at 11:00 AM in the church. Call 9:30-10:45 AM.
