IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael J.
Fenimore
June 8, 1935 – December 18, 2018
Michael "Mike the Barber" Fenimore passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 18th at Quakertown Center. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 8th, 1935 to Rose DiFalco and James Fenimore. He met the love of his life, Dottie Oakley, when he was barely 18 and they were quickly married and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. A lifelong Yankees fan, he was always active in baseball, from helping out with Little League games to assisting in his son's local leagues. He was on his way to a record season in his over-70 Florida softball league until an on-field injury ended his career. A long-time business owner in Coopersburg, he operated Fenimore's Hotel with his father in the '60s before opening his barber shop on Main Street in 1972. He was an active member of the Upper Saucon Lions Club, as well as St. Joseph Parish. He loved his family, loved to sing, and loved Italian food.
He is pre-deceased by his brothers Joe and Jim, and his sister Theresa.
He is survived by his wife Dottie, daughter Rosie and husband Dave Newcomer; son Jim and wife Deb; as well as grandson John Newcomer, and partner Lisa Wright; granddaughter Jennifer Chase, and husband Nicholas; as well as brothers Phil and Tommy. He will be remembered fondly for his charisma, bravado, anecdotes, advice, and thoughtfulness. Though his family is saddened by his passing, they are comforted by the fact that he is at peace now–asleep with the stars.
