Matilda M. "Tillie" Rocco, 94 went joyfully to rest in the arms of God, Wednesday, November 22, 2006. She was the wife of Joseph F. Rocco for 54 years before his death August 14, 1989. Born in New Brighton, England, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Margherita (Zulianni) Riccio. Matilda was a resident of Allentown since 1931. She was a sewing machine operator for the former Allison Mgf. of Allentown for over 30 years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena for 65 years. Matilda was a volunteer at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital for many years prior to her moving to Luther Crest. Survivors: She was the beloved mother of son Anthony J. Rocco and wife Mary Ann and daughter, Joanne G. Carter and husband George. She has seven grandchildren, Joseph G. Rocco and wife Diana, Matthew F. Rocco and wife April, Anthony M. Rocco and Lisa A. Rocco, Joseph Kraft and wife Sara, Laura Kraft and Andrew Kraft. Seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kristina, Nick, Matt and Lexie Rocco, Michael A. Almazan and George U. Horn; brothers George and Mick Riccio in England; sister-in-law, Grace Giannotti of Luther Crest; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Laura Berry and Theresa McIntyre and brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, Harry and Albert. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Nancy Urankar and to the Luther Crest Assisted Living and Health Care Center's loving staff who cared for Matilda so well for the past five years.
