Mary H. Tackack
Mary H. Tackack, 90, of Allentown, passed away on Feb. 10, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Born in 1922, she was the last surviving child of the late Nicholas and Paraska (Fenyo) Hichar. A 1940 graduate of Allentown High School she later worked for the FBI in Wash., D.C. and Philadelphia during WWII later returning to Allentown to work as a secretary for the former United Materials, Lehigh County personnel office, and at Muhlenberg College Health Center. She was a teacher's aide at Sheridan Elementary School where both of her parents were naturalized. She also volunteered at the Sheridan library from 1997 until 2004 and tutored ESOL students there. She was a member of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Allentown where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was very fond of her frequent visits with her granddaughter. Over the years, her miniature dachshunds also provided much comfort and companionship.
Survivors: Sons, David W. Morris of Bethlehem and Scott M. Tackack, husband of Stephanie (Simcoe) of Kutztown; and Granddaughter, Anya Tackack.
