OBITUARY for MARIE A. STALSITZ
Marie A. Stalsitz passed into God's loving arms in the early morning hours of February 25th where she was joyfully reunited with her late husband, Francis J. Stalsitz, and one of her sons, John L. Stalsitz.
Born May 25, 1923 in Allentown, Marie Sabo had a happy yet challenging childhood during the depression. Her father, Michael Sabo, died when Marie was only 14 years old, leaving her mother, Helen Burda Sabo, with 6 children. Marie helped to raise her siblings, including making many of their clothes. She attended St. John the Baptist grade school, Harrison Morton Junior High, and Allentown High School where she excelled academically.
After WWII, she married and started a family. She was a most devoted wife and mother, and a truly gifted homemaker: sewing and baking for everyone. Her strudels and kiffles were legendary, and she generously baked them for countless family occasions and fundraisers. Marie served for many years as treasurer and later trustee for the Organization of Boy Scout Mothers and for the Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered countless hours sewing bandages for cancer patients, and was a member of the Slovak organization, Sokol.
Marie's gentle touch and warm smile will be missed by everyone, but especially by her surviving children: Francis J. Stalsitz of Danielsville and Marian A. Preston, wife of Atty. James F. Preston of Allentown. She will also be greatly missed by her 5 grandchildren: Frank Stalsitz, David Stalsitz, Tracy Strohl, J. Michael Preston and Daniel J. Preston, and by her 6 great grandchildren.
Marie is survived by 3 brothers: William, John and Charles Sabo, and a sister, Helen Lucas. Services: Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Friday, St. Francis of Assisi Church, 801 N. 11th Street, Allentown. Call: 9:30-10:25 am. Arrangements by Weber Funeral Homes, P.C. (www.weberfuneralhomes.com) Contributions: Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015
