, 92, of Allentown, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Margaret was the wife of the late Curtis D. Smith, with whom she shared 48 years of loving marriage prior to his passing in 1995. She was of the Catholic faith and a long-time member of Immaculate Conception BVM parish in Allentown, PA. Born Margaret Teresa Plessl on December 31, 1925 in Allentown, PA, she was the youngest of five children born to Joseph and Rose Plessl (Leitgeb). Margaret was a homemaker and dedicated wife and mother, while also working in the textile industry for many years. Margaret is survived by her beloved daughters: Rosalind Ruff of Jim Thorpe; Karen Smith of Allentown; and Michelle Makhoul, wife of the late Samir Makhoul of Whitehall; grandchildren: Eric Scheirer of Allentown; Mark Ruff of Jim Thorpe; Samara, wife of Chris Mebane of Whitehall; Alanna Makhoul of Whitehall; and Rachel, wife of Judd Walter of Bethlehem; and five great-grandchildren: Margaret was predeceased by brothers: Walter Plessl and Joseph Plessl; and sisters: Emma Heber and Rose Buscher. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Margaret's life on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Immaculate Conception BVM R.C. Church, 501 Ridge Avenue, Allentown, PA 18102. Visitation services will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM at the church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Laurel Cemetery in Whitehall, PA.
