LORETTA GERANCHER "I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion"Henry David Thoreau (American Essayist, Poet, Philosopher, 1817-1862) Loretta Gerancher died Tuesday November 7, 2006 at Sacred Heart Hospital. She is survived by her husband "Johnny Gerancher", husband of 46 years, soul mate and partner of the "LOJO" team, her son and daughter-in-law, Dr's JC and Karen Gerancher with two grandchildren Emma and Jacob, her daughter and son-in-law Loriann and Kevin Helgeson and two grandchildren, Colin and Connor. Brothers, Alois and Thomas Krajcirovic and Sister Bernadine Steirer are surviving relatives in Allentown, Coopersburg, and Las Vegas. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Stephen F. Krajcirovic, and her brother Stephen L. Krajcirovic. Born in Allentown, Loretta taught at Holy Ghost Elementary School in Bethlehem prior to becoming a stay at home mom and raising her two kids. John and Loretta were married June 25, 1960 at St. Paul's Catholic Church by the late Rev. Bruno Zeitsch. She was a member of the Lehigh County Historical Society and caregiver for her ailing relatives over many years. Loretta remained an avid coupon clipper, and diligent recycler all her adult life, funding a huge portion of her children's education through her clever thriftiness. Loretta loved all things nature--wildflowers, trees, and birds. She and her friend Elsie worked the last two years compiling several albums of botanical plates of wildflowers, plants, and trees for her library. In addition to nature, Loretta had a great love of books and requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Southern Lehigh Public Library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley, PA 18034.
