Obituary

Lester Charles Barley, of Easton, PA and formerly of Allentown, Pa, passed away on June 7, 2026, at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his beloved grandmother Rose and his mother Blanche Doris Barley. Lester was a professional photographer, having worked for Trade Publications of Kansas City, MO. He experienced many thrilling moments in history, including photographing the Beatles during their iconic concert at Shea Stadium in 1964, taking pictures on the campaign trail for John F. Kennedy in 1960, and the We The People celebration in Philadelphia, PA in 1987. Lester owned Book Bargains and Back Date Magazines for 37 years, establishing his business as a well-respected destination for collectable reading materials on the Hamilton Mall in Allentown, PA. He fondly remembered his time working in the electrical and maintenance department at Dorney Park as a young man, and he passed his love of the park and its rich history down through two generations of his family. Later in life Lester worked at his beloved Allentown Fairgrounds in their Security Division, contributing decades of photos of shows and events. His many interests included model trains, belonging to Allentown Train Meet Associates, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Indians. Lester was an avid lover of animals, especially our beloved family beagle, Patches. Survivors: Son Michael and wife Joanna, and the lights of his life, his three grandchildren.
