He grew up in Locust Point, MD and attended Mt. St. Joseph's High School, graduating with the class of 1948. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Air Force in March of 1951. He honorably served his country until January of 1955. During his service, Leo was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. His unit evacuated casualties from the war to Japanese hospitals. He loved working with the kids and helping them learn and love the sport. He even coached his grandson, Joey, when he was 77 years old! Leo loved his grandchildren very much, he was always bragging and boasting about them.

Leo grew up and lived his life as a Christian. He knew The Lord as his savior.

In addition to his wife, he is lovingly remembered by his four children: Mark, Eric, Nancy, and Amy; he is also survived by three beloved grandchildren: Abby, Zach, and Joey; his siblings, John and Delores, and many nieces and nephews.
