Lamar J.T. Farrel, 96, of Bethlehem, PA, died on October 4, 2018 at Holy Family Manor with his loving wife Clare by his side. Lamar was born in Allentown, PA and he was the eldest son of the late Claude J. Farrel and Helen M. Farrel (Guth).
Lamar was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and served in North Africa and Europe with the rank of sergeant in the Army Medical Corps. Lamar was awarded four campaign stars and he was a member of American Legion Headquarters Post 0945. Lamar worked for General Electric Co. for 25 years and went on to work for Penn Linen & Uniform Service, Inc. for 19 years as their accounting manager before retiring. Lamar was a member of Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Bethlehem and he was an avid bowler.
Lamar was preceded in death by his younger brother, Claude J. Farrel, Jr.
Lamar is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Clare S. Farrel; his son: Gregory T. Farrel of Escondido, CA.; daughters: Eileen C. Wally of Belmont, OH, Jocelyn J. Paulus; and Regina M. Farrel-Stohr, both of Bethlehem, PA; his younger sister: Gloria H. Vernarr of Lehighton, PA; 6 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Lamar's life in the chapel of Holy Family Manor located at 1200 Spring Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Visitation services will be held from 12:00 P.M -1:00 P.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery.
