Kenneth W. Churm
Kenneth W. Churm, 63, of Coopersburg died at home Sunday, August 1, 2010 after a short, but valiant fight with Melanoma. Ken was the husband of Morag Christie-Churm. They just recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. Born in Allentown, PA, he was son of the late William and Arlene (Paul) Churm. Ken graduated from Bucknell University in 1969 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 10 years in that capacity. He earned his Professional Engineering License in 1987. Ken worked as an electrical design engineer for Snyder Hoffman Associates, LB&W Design Associates, and spent 20 years with W2A Design Group from which he retired in December 2009. In addition he was a consultant for Diversified Lighting Associates for the past two years until he became sick. Ken was active in the church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, Board member, and served on the Facilities Committee at St. John's UCC Church in Coopersburg, PA. Ken was a past member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. Ken previously served on the Solehi Kid Care Board of Directors as Financial Committee Chairperson, Vice President, and then President. Ken was a member of the Coopersburg Chapter of HOG (Harley Owners Group). Ken loved to ride his Harley Sportster Custom 1200 which he received as a surprise birthday present from his wife, Morag, for his 60th birthday. Ken was a loving family member and a good friend to many. He will be remembered for his love of music and knowledge of politics.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Morag, Ken is survived by his son, Tristan K. Churm of Silver Springs, MD, Sister, Elaine Sinnwell and husband James of Allentown, PA, and nephews, Brian Sinnwell and wife, Heather, Leif Frey, and Erin Frey, and niece Dawn Vigna and husband Tony.
Services: A memorial service will be held at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 538 East Thomas St., Coopersburg, PA on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 12 noon with calling hours at the church from 11:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Additional calling hours will be at Norcross Weber Funeral Home, 101-B N. Main St., Coopersburg, PA on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. (www.weberfuneralhomes.com)
