June Dolores Bigatel, 89, went home to the Lord on Sept. 14, 2014. Loving and beloved daughter, wife, mother, Nana and friend, June was born in Allentown to the late Paul S. and Myrtle M. (Hefflefinger) Hertzog. She was the devoted wife of John D. Bigatel for 47 years until his death in 1993. Together they raised 6 children: Anita Folino (Dino) of Okemos, MI, Veronica Elias (Joseph) of Leithsville, John (Nancy) of Hazleton, Joel of Narberth, Thomas (Donna) of Pittsburgh and Christina Durback (Larry) of Allentown. She was the proud Nana of 20 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and Great-Nana to 20 great grandchildren. A 1943 graduate of Allen High School, June was one of their first majorettes. As a young woman, she worked as a secretary for Mack Trucks. A member of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, June was a faithful Catholic from the time of her conversion in 1946. She spent many happy hours as an exercise instructor, member of the "Top of the Hill Gang," and swimmer at the Allentown YMCA and YWCA.
