Joyce Marilyn Strauch, 87, living with her daughter, Karen and Harvey, in Upland, California, died peacefully Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 in their home. Born in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carol E. (Barry) Hess and Jacob Hess of Allentown, PA. She was the wife of the late John "Sarge" Strauch. Joyce and John were married 51 years.

Following her husband's 21 year career in the Air Force, they returned to Allentown in 1970, where she resided until she moved to California in 2012. Joyce worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township for 15 years as an Admissions Clerk until she retired at age 76. Prior to that, she worked at Saylors Restaurant for 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star while in Morocco, Africa. At the age of 85, she did some volunteer work for the FACMG foundation sorting items at the food bank in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister and dedicated her life to family and always there for friends in need.

Survivors: Daughters and their husbands, Karen and Dr. Harvey D. Cohen of Upland, CA; Shelley and John Mesics of Lower Macungie Township; brothers, Jacob and Dennis Hess of Breinigsville and Macungie, PA; Sisters of Choice, Joanne and Janice Hess of Breinigsville and Macungie, PA; granddaughters, Melissa Lipsky and Stephanie Mareigner; grandson, Lawrence Cohen; great-granddaughters, Heaven Mareigner and Isabelle Lipsky; along with nieces and nephews.

Services: Saturday, February 2nd, 2019. Calling hours 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Service 11:00 AM, all at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18102. Burial will be held at Cedar Hill Memorial Park immediately following the service.
