Joseph L. Keppel, 86, passed away Dec. 3 at his home in Laurys Station. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Lewis and Julia (Groeller) Keppel. Joseph and his wife Erna (Binder) celebrated 66 yrs. of marriage this past year. He was employed by the Lehigh County Prison as a Corrections Officer for 23 yrs., achieving the rank of Captain, prior to his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Whitehall. Survivors: Wife; son, Michael and wife Janine; daughter, Louise wife of Lowell Fehnel; grandchildren, Adam, Raechel, Nicholas, David, and Ross; great granddaughter Grace; sister, Margaret Gigler; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Louis; sisters, Angelina Miller, Theresa Lakits, Rose Santer, and Julia Klucharich. Services: Mass of Christian Burial Thurs 10am at Holy Trinity Church, 4456 Main St. Whitehall. Viewings will be held on Wed. eve. from 6-8pm at Weber Funeral Home, 502 Ridge Ave. Allentown, and Thursday morning from 9am till time of service in the church, 4456 Main St. Whitehall.
