IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph E.
Holecz
May 29, 1930 – June 6, 2018
Joseph Holecz, 88 of Allentown passed away on Wednesday, June 06, 2018, 60 years to the day of his wedding anniversary to his loving wife, Mary Holecz. Joseph was predeceased by his son Joesph Jr. He is survived by his wife Mary, son, David Holecz and his wife, Lisa, along with 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Emily.
Born in Rabatotfalu, Hungary, Joesph lived a full life, with many challenges and milestones. His sense of humor, work ethic and determination helped him to not only persevere, but thrive as a father, husband, grandfather, teacher, and friend. After surviving interment in a Soviet gulag, he served in the Hungarian military, then received political asylum to the US, after the failed Hungarian revolution 1956. Joseph landed in Bethlehem, PA with only $3 and a suitcase, where he soon met his future bride. He developed his love of cooking from one of his first jobs as an assistant chef for the Hotel Bethlehem. He then moved onto Kurtz Brothers Furniture, for his other passion, woodworking. Joseph finished up with a 35 year career with Knoll International as a cabinet maker. Retirement was fully comprised of gardening and enjoying his grandchildren.
