Joseph, 75, of Sinking Spring passed away at home on Nov. 10, 2012. He was born on Oct. 25, 1937 in Freemansburg, PA to the late Joseph Allen Sr. and Catherine (Dougherty) Allen. He is pre-deceased by siblings William, Grace, Jack, Charles, and Marie. He worked at Bethlehem Steel, and then went on to Remita Rug Service where he was a carpet technician/installer for 42 years. His hobbies included camping, fishing, boating, wood shop/wood carvings, rolling dice, football (he loved Notre Dame and the Pittsburgh Steelers), his grandkids sports, music including Patsy Cline and Irish dancing.
Survivors: Wife Diane E. (Mertz) Allen with whom he shared nearly 56 years of marriage; children Joseph J. Allen III and wife Mary of Slatington, Donna M. Martin and husband James of Bethlehem, Tyrone L. Allen of Stroudsburg, Tami E. Skaf and husband Nicola of Sinking Spring with whom he resided, and Shelly A. Frick and husband Dan of Coplay; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister Patricia Hirsch of Minnesota; and many other loving family and friends.
Services: Visitation 10-Noon, Service at noon, both on Thu. Nov. 15 at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 W. Hamilton St. Allentown. Internment at Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown to follow.
