Obituary

John, 96, of Lititz passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on May 5, 2016. He was born in Lydiard, SK, Canada, on April 30, 1920 to the late Henry J. and Anna (Ratzlaff) Unruh. He spent 69 years as the loving husband of Carolyn V. (Horning) Unruh. He served in the Army, European Theater, during WWII, and after returning home worked for Bollman's Hat Factory in Adamstown. He then went on to own and operate Horning's General Store in Alleghenyville for 33 years. After selling the general store he returned to Bollman's until his retirement. As a youth he was an avid hunter, and was a charter member of the Whitehead Hunting Club of Cameron County. He was also a member of Calvary Church in Lancaster. In retirement he was a golf enthusiast, able to shoot his age or lower from the age of 68-83. He is predeceased by siblings Viola Henry, Luella Wingenroth, Verda Byler, Irene Fry, and Howard, Benjamin, and Richard Unruh.

Survivors: Wife Carolyn; sons John H. Unruh and Robert P. Unruh and wife Linda; daughter JoAnn I. Sheaffer and husband Lee; grandchildren Heather M., Lauren, and Paul Unruh, Cody and Jessica Kline, and Lindsey Stiger; great grandchildren McKenzie Snyder, and Gracelyn, Wyatt, and Luke Stiger; brother Robert Unruh (Shirley); Grace Unruh (wife of Howard); and many other loving family and friends.

Services: A family visitation will be held on Monday, May 23 at 10:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am, both at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd., Lancaster. www.WEBERFUNERALHOMES.com
