John G. "Senator" Pletz Jr., 74, of Coplay passed away March 24 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Latsch) Pletz Sr. He was married to Shirley (Wieder) for the last 50 yrs. John retired from Northwestern Lehigh S/D where he worked as a custodian until his retirement in 1996. Prior to that he was a shipping mgr. at Katos Sportswear for 35 yrs. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. Survivors: Wife; son, John III and wife Mary Jo of Walnutport; daughter, Merryann wife of Kevin Uetz of Slatington; step son, Anthony Messina of Northampton; grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Kelly, Douglas, and Julia; sisters; Jean Smith of Easton, Patricia Nighan of Whitehall; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, George, Frank, Ronald, and Richard. Services: Wed. 11am at Weber Funeral Home, 502 Ridge Ave. Allentown. Please call Wed. from 10am till time of service.
