John J. Schaffer Jr.
John J. Schaffer, Jr., 74 of Allentown, passed away on August 16th in Lehigh Valley Hospice. Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Emma (Weiss) Schaffer. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marguerite (Clark) Schaffer. John was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church; he was employed as a Lieutenant with the Allentown Police Dept. retiring in 2002. He served in the Army during WWII. John was the Social Activities Director of the Police Athletics League for 27 years where he received various honors and recognitions.
Survivors: Wife, Son: John Mark Schaffer Sr. of Allentown. Daughter: Dr. Cheryl Ann (Sherry) (Schaffer) Slattery wife of William R. Slattery Jr. of Shippensburg, PA., Sister: Hilda Seaman and her husband Jack. Grandchildren: John Mark Schaffer Jr., William R. Slattery III, Kelly L. Slattery, Sinea A. Slattery, Devon L. Slattery, Quinn L. Slattery , and Larkin R. Slattery. Nieces & Nephews: Susan, Zachary, and Katie Miller. Denise Taia and Dylan D'Coda. John was predeceased by a niece, Janice Seaman.
Services: A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 19from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. and Wednesday, August 20 from 9:30am to 10:30 am in Weber Funeral Home, P.C. 1619 Hamilton St. Allentown followed by mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Catholic Church, 2nd & Susquehanna Sts. Allentown.
