Obituary

John (Jack) Frederick Cook, 75, of Las Vegas, NV passed away in his home in Las Vegas, NV on April 11, 2017 following complications of heart surgery. Born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown PA, Jack was the only child of John L Cook and Anna Mary Cook.

Jack served in the US Air Force for 26 years in avionic electronics with the F-4 and F-16 fighter jet planes. He attended St. Catherine Siena elementary school and Central Catholic High School, Allentown. While in the Air Force, he earned a Bachelor's degree of Science, Masters degree of Business Administration and Master's degree of Public Administration before retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1986. Following active duty service, he worked as a defense contractor field engineer in the Nellis Range, Nevada and retired fully in 2005.

Jack Cook was an active downhill ski competitor in the Army-Air Force Ski team and later as a ski instructor and race competitor in Utah, Nevada and California. His other great hobby was playing the piano accordion, attending accordion festivals nationwide and taking classes in jazz accordion right into 2017.

He is survived by his wife Dawn Lynn (Gilbertson), his four children: David (Allegra, Lanexa VA, grandchildren , Gabrianna and Sarah), Donna (Jim Philbrook, MA, grandchildren Andrew and Jordyn), Jon (Elizabeth, Las Vegas, grandchild Anna) and Christopher (Boise ID, grandchild Anastasia). He also is survived by four loving step-children, Gary and Glenn Goodnough, Clint Hoebee and Sonya Barker and nine step-grandchildren.

Services: The family will receive relatives and friends at Weber Funeral Home on Hamilton Street, Allentown from 9 am to 11 am on April 22, background music by Glenn Miller, accordionist. Prayer Service with Father Zambelli at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 Hamilton St at 11:00 am followed by Burial with Military Honors at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
