Johanna Pankratz, 84 of Allentown passed away at home with her loving family at her side on November 15, 2011. She was the wife of Edward P. Pankratz and celebrated their 67th anniversary last October 21. Born June 24, 1927 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Martha (Welke) Keding. Prior to retiring, she worked at Grief Mgf. (formerly Phoenix) of Allentown for 37 years. She is a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 110 N. 10th St., where she served as Superintendent of the German Sunday School for the past 44 years, and taught in the German Sunday School for the past 54 years. Johanna also served as President of the St. Peter's Frauenverein (Ladies Aid) for 28 years and for many years she organized St. Peter's annual Oktoberfest and supervised the baking of apple strudel and other German heritage foods for various church occasions. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Survivors: In addition to her husband Edward, she will be dearly missed by her daughter, Hildegard (Hilda) Greene and husband Jack of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren; David Greene and Amy Miyakawa, wife of Dave, all of Cincinnati; sister Waltraut Miltenberger and husband Richard, brothers, Adolf and wife Hildegard, and Richard all of Allentown, Arthur and wife Susan of Bethlehem and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Waldemar and Siegmund and a sister Elfriede Meyers.
