Johanna Helena Klaassen, passed away on January 17th at the age of 80. She was born in Rotterdam in the Netherlands to the late: Jacobus Andries Klaassen and Hendrina Lana Guequierre. Johanna received her medical degree in 1961, from Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht in the Netherlands, then she emigrated to the U.S. and completed her training at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and went on to have her own private practice in Allentown, specializing in child psychiatry, until retiring in 2013. Johanna enjoyed classical music, being an active member at church, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors: Children : Peter W.K. Knibbe and wife Marie, Patricia I. Martz and husband Joseph, James W. Knibbe, Anita E. Knibbe and partner Jeffrey Pollock. Grandchildren Beth, Rose, Nicolas, Lucy, and Tate. Sisters: Renee Klaassen and Aletta Irene Klaassen.
Services: A viewing will be held on Friday, January 22 from 4-6PM at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 Hamilton Street in Allentown, and on Sunday, January 24 a service will be held at 3PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 424 Center St. Bethlehem, PA.
