IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane E.
Bushner
September 2, 1928 – January 13, 2022
Jane E. (Dubowicz) Bushner, age 93, of Coopersburg went home to the Lord on January 13, 2022 at South Mountain Memory Care. She was the loving wife of Raymond A. Bushner, to whom she was married 69 years last October 25th. Born in Allentown, September 2, 1928, Jane was the daughter of the late John and Teofila (Karol) Dubowicz. She graduated from Allen High School in 1946. She was employed as a secretary at the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company from 1949 to 1952. Prior to working at PP&L, she held jobs at F. W. Woolworth Co. and at Wetherhold & Metzger's Shoes. Ray and Jane met at a ballroom dance. They married in 1952 and raised six children together. When Ray went into business for himself, she managed the office of their Coopersburg business, Bushner Tree Service, for many years until his retirement in 2007. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Coopersburg and helped with the annual church picnic for many years. Jane volunteered as a playground monitor for several years at St. Michael the Archangel School. She was the "playground mom" extraordinaire, arriving at the school with a trunk full of toys for all the children to use. Many of the school children referred to her as their second mom. Jane was serious about the importance of her Catholic faith and praying together as a family was a normal part of life in this household. She prayed endlessly for each of her children throughout the day and made sure everyone attended church regularly, received the sacraments and knew how to pray the rosary. Jane was a true example of a loving mother. She focused tirelessly on each of her six children's individual best interests. If one child wanted to run for a school office, Jane would help with the election artwork while simultaneously helping others with homework or playing chess or cards with another. In addition to her children, she also loved pets and animals of all kinds. There was nearly always at least one dog in the house and the children had a wide variety of pets over the years. Jane was an avid reader and emphasized the importance of education to her children. She spent many an hour taking them to the library to get books for reading enjoyment and to undertake school research. Spelling bees often occurred at the kitchen table to enliven the joy of learning and to keep the children's brains "fresh" over the summer break. She regularly encouraged each of her children to be educated and independent, and to understand their own self-worth before venturing into relationships with others. She will be greatly missed.
