Irene Viola Schweitzer

Irene Viola Schweitzer, 92, of Coopersburg, passed on October 24, 2016 at Phoebe Home. Born in Quakertown; she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Mable (Heist) Swauger. She was the wife of the late Joseph Schweitzer. Irene graduated from Allen High School with honors. She attended Grandview Nursing School graduating as a registered nurse in 1945 and working at the hospital for 10 years. She volunteered at many immunization clinics. After taking a leave to raise her family she went back to work with Lehigh Valley Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Blue Church, Coopersburg. She enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her family. Irene was predeceased by two sisters, Catherine Konold and Althea Ney and two brothers, Franklin and Leroy Swauger.

Survivors: Daughters, Kathleen Schweitzer of North Wales and Patricia, wife of Michael Thom, of Coopersburg; Loving Grandmother to Adam and Michael Ryave and Philip and Paul Thom; aunt to many nieces and nephews.
