Irene R. Kaufenberg, age 79, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown. She was born September 26, 1943 in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Galvin) Hilden.

Irene graduated from Roslindale High School in Boston, MA. She then attended Boston School of Business Education for a few years and worked for New England Telephone. Following that, she drove across the country with her friend to L.A., where she worked at UCLA Library. She also met her husband in L.A. and they spent many years together until his passing in 2011. Irene cared for him for many years. She was an avid reader and a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Coopersburg.

She is survived by her son, Peter F. Kaufenberg of New Tripoli; and two brothers, Richard Hilden and spouse Rick Turner of MA and Michael Hilden and spouse Carla Stone of MA.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 2011 by her loving husband of 41 years, John R. Kaufenberg; daughter, Jennifer M. Kaufenberg; and sister, Michele Willard.

Professional Services are entrusted to Norcross-Weber Funeral Home, Inc. in Coopersburg. A Visitation will be held Monday, February 27, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Funeral Services at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Coopersburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital at stjude.org.
