Holmes "Skip"
Maher
September 16, 1934 – May 25, 2025
Holmes S. "Skip" Maher, 90, of Allentown, passed away May 25, 2025. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Arthur and Thelma (Radler) Maher. Skip was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Kathryn "Kitty" Maher.
After graduating high school, Skip went on to serve for four years in the US Navy. He was stationed in Guam for a year and a half and was also stationed in California. He flew on the Concord to London, sailed the Queen Elizabeth 2, and the Orient Express.
When he was honorably discharged, Skip went on to work as a mail carrier for 32 years until retiring. After retiring, he worked as a security guard. He loved all sports but especially basketball (winning championships) and baseball.
He and his wife took many annual trips to Las Vegas where they loved to vacation and gamble. They even had their vows renewed in Vegas by an Elvis impersonator.
Skip is survived by a brother-in-law, Richard and his wife, Marianne Piff, a niece, Mary Kay Gecsek.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in passing by his beloved dogs, Shep, Sass, Knight, and King.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park next to his wife, Kitty.
