Obituary

Allentown – PELLINGTON, Geraldine "Gigi" Virginia (Gormley), 82, of
Allentown, Pennsylvania, formerly of Butler, New Jersey, passed away on
Wednesday, June 17, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Alfred Milton Pellington. Born
the daughter of the late Eugene and Bessie (McBride) Gormley. Predeceased by her
sister Florence Appel.
Surviving are her sons, Scott E. Pellington and David F. Pellington (his wife, E. J.
Vandergrift); and her grandchildren, Alan E. Pellington, Michelle E. Pellington,
Charles I. VanDergrift, and Stephen W. Pellington.
Gigi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law.
She was proud of her years at Toshiba, where she worked while busy raising her
children and taking care of her family. It was at Toshiba where she became known
as "Gigi".
Her grandchildren will remember the times she spent watching Saturday morning
cartoons with them, trips to Allentown to see her at Easter, and the long hours of
conversation on the phone with her after they grew up.
She loved her dogs, especially Bluebell and Sally, and could unerringly choose
which dog out of a litter would make a good hunting dog. She loved her cats, a
Maine coon named Zeb, and an orange cat named IttyBitty.
She loved eggs, bacon, fried little red potatoes, and black coffee for breakfast.
In later years, Gigi spoke of learning to drink her coffee (hazelnut) black while going
fishing with Al in the early mornings. She missed Al, gone 21 years, and spoke of
him often.
She was an independent and strong woman, doing things the way she had always
done, taking care of the things that needed taking care of with little or no complaint.
Her view of the world was that things and people were the way they were, no need
for therapy to figure that out.
We are bereft with the loss of Gigi. We did not have near enough time.
