Mr. Gerald Charles Nation was born April 9, 1920 in the town of Williamsfield, Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies, to Elizabeth and Charles Nation.
Mr. Nations schooling was completed in Jamaica. He later became a famous Jamaican cyclist known to all as G NATION. He won many races and cherished his famous blizzette bike.
He migrated to the United States of America in the 1960's and resided in Bronx, New York with his wife and family. Many family members spoke highly of his ongoing love and support, especially his niece Queenie and sister Hortense. During this time he worked at Metropolitan Hospital where he was an appreciated employee for over 25 years. Gerald always had a charismatic personality. G. Nation took pride in his appearance and was known a dapper dresser and was never seen without his hat. During his free time Gerald could be found at the park of following the international cycling events and horse racing. G. nation was also an enthusiastic fan of baseball especially cheering for his beloved Mets.
After retiring he moved to Allentown, PA during the 2000's to live with his youngest son Peter and his family. Many memorable moments were spent with his grandchildren with whom he shared many Jamaican stories and his cycling glories. The past five years he resided in the Liberty nursing home where he transitioned home to the Lord on April 2, 2013. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Doreen Nation (2001); daughter Angia Nation (1995); and son Joel Nation (2011). He leaves cherished memories and love to his children David Disney (Florence), Peter Nation (Andrea), Colin Nation (Doreen), Noel Nation, Lloyd Wellington, Rudolph McKenzie, and Alfoncita Grant; sister Hortense (NY); brother Charles Nation (Panama); twenty five grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services: Viewing Tuesday, April 9, 11am-Noon, followed by a noon service, both at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 W. Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18102. Internment Wednesday, April 10, 1:00pm, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Jackson Ave. & Saw Mill River Rd, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.
