Frank "Gus" Gava, 95, of Allentown, died Monday in ManorCare, Salisbury Twp. Born in Treuird, Italy on July 20, 1913 he was a son of the late August and Elisha (Zuanette) Gava. He was the husband of Emma A. (Dalla Zanna) Gava for the past 68 years being married May 25, 1940. Gus arrived in America with his parents and siblings on December 25, 1920 through Ellis Island, NY. He was a stone mason before entering the US Army and serving in WW II with Battery B, 16th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. After his discharge he started his career as a plumber belonging to Local Union 690 of Philadelphia where he worked for 50 years before retiring. In the 1950's, Frank taught plumbing at Allen High School. He was a member of the former Allentown Italian Club and served on the board of directors. He loved animals and enjoyed gardening grapes and tomatoes at his beloved "lake". Survivors: Wife; son Enrico G. Gava; daughter, Telvia T. Castagnera; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Peitro, Andrew, Victor and James; sisters, Pierina Deutsch, Rachael Osnick and Amelia Zalesky.
