"Rik" Mckinnon
June 7, 1945 – July 2, 2025
Forrest Richard "Rik" Mckinnon, 80, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully July 2, 2025. Born in Cook County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Forrest A. Mackinnon and Betty Carlson.
Rik began pursuing his lifelong love for ice skating as a student of the Michael Kirby Ice Skating School in Chicago. He went on to perform with the Ice Follies from 1963-1973. After, he owned and managed the Ice Palace Skating Rink in Allentown from 1973-2004. During his career he shaped and influenced many young skaters through coaching figure skating and ice hockey. In his later years, he worked as night manager for the Steel Ice Center for many years until his retirement.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Forrest Ryan Mckinnon, a brother, Terry Mckinnon, and a sister, Holly Santucci.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and his stepmother, Fran Mackinnon.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4:30PM until the service at 5PM all at Cathedral Church of the Nativity 321 Wyandotte St, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will be private.
