Berner
August 17, 1928 – June 4, 2023
Florence E. Berner, 94, of Dillingersville, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023. Born August 17,1928 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late John and Hedwig (Unger) Tapler. Florence was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 52 years, Joseph Frank Berner on August 11, 2000.
Florence worked as a secretary at Westinghouse Corporation as well as a dietary aide at Sacred Heart Skilled Nursing Unit, also known as Mount Trexler. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Limeport. Florence was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Elizabeth Verheggen and her husband, Joseph Anton, of Zionsville; Kathleen M. Lutterschmidt and her husband,William J.,of Allentown; son, Joseph M. Berner and his wife, Rosita, of Leesburg, VA. Grandchildren include: Jacob Fugazzotto ( wife,Heather), Jared Frey, Gretchen Verheggen, Heidi Verheggen, Christopher Berner, Amalia Berner, William P. Lutterschmidt, and David Lutterschmidt; Great-grandchildren: Emma Fuggazzotto, Adriana Fugazzotto, Christopher Berner, Kristina Estrada, and William J. Lutterschmidt; sister, Lily Tapler; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Florence is preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah A. Fugazzotto, grandson, Joseph J. Fugazzotto and seven siblings, including sisters: Gisele Alderfer, Helen Ehritz, Violet Snyder, Eleanor Gilde, Rose Ann Tapler, and brothers: John Tapler and William Tapler.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 9A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M., all at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5050 St. Joseph's Rd., Coopersburg, PA 18036. Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Florence's name to St. Joseph's Church.
