Evelyn "Evie" M. Newhard, age 96, of Coopersburg, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley. She was born May 6, 1925 in Coopersburg, the daughter of the late Paul A. and Florence M. (Miller) Berninger. She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Newhard for 51 years before he passed away in 2000.

Evie worked as a clerk, Acting Postmaster, and Supervisor for the Postal Service for 30 years before retiring in 1984. She was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church in Coopersburg. She was on the original organizing committee and Board of Directors of the Southern Lehigh Community Pool Association and also served as Historian for the Coopersburg Historical Society. Evie compiled several scrapbooks of news and articles of the Coopersburg and Southern Lehigh area from the 1930's to the present time and they will be donated to the Coopersburg Historical Society.

She is survived by three sons, Robert M. Newhard of Coopersburg, Glenn K. (Sharon) Newhard of Bethlehem, and Eric A. (Kathleen) Newhard of CT; daughter-in-law, Debra; three step-granddaughters, Michelle, Lisa, and Jackie; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Marke), Emily, Michael (Amy), Philipp (Keri), David, Adam, Zachary (Ellen), and Timothy; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Ruby, Evelyn, Amelia, and Grayson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Kurt C. Newhard.

Professional Services are entrusted to Norcross-Weber Funeral Home, Inc. A Visitation will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M.; all at Norcross-Weber Funeral Home, 101B N Main St., Coopersburg, PA 18036. Interment will immediately follow in Woodland Cemetery in Coopersburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Evie's memory to the Coopersburg Historical Society, P.O.
