Eugene "Gene" F. O'Donnell, Sr., age 89, of Allentown, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his home. He was born February 28, 1933 in Allentown, the son of the late John J. and Josephine H. O'Donnell.
Gene graduated from Allentown High School and proudly served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, including the 82nd airborne. He worked for many years at Coplay Cement. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his family and he was a big Yankees fan. Gene was also a member of the American Legion in Whitehall, the VFW in Allentown, and Immaculate Conception Church in Allentown.
He is survived by two sons, Eugene F. O'Donnell Jr. of Allentown and Thomas (Theresa) O'Donnell of Whitehall; daughter, Colleen O'Donnell and lifelong partner, Michael Auer of Bethlehem; four grandchildren, Nicole (Rev. Scott) Dorn of Wernersville, Victoria (Patrick) Malloy of Wynnewood, Dougie (Taylor) Case of Willow Grove, and Joshua Case and partner, Alyssa of Lansdale; two great grandchildren, Amelia and Owen Dorn; two sisters, Mary Ellen O'Donnell of Allentown and Margret Gallagher of Whitehall; five brothers, Charles O'Donnell of Northampton, and Joseph, Hugh, James, and Francis O'Donnell, all of Allentown; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, John O'Donnell and sister, Grace O'Donnell.
Professional Services are entrusted to Weber Funeral Homes, P.C. in Allentown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church, 501 Ridge Ave, Allentown, PA 18102. Interment will immediately follow in St. Lawrence the Martyr Calvary Cemetery in Catasauqua, where military honors will also be presented by American Legion Post 367.
